Instollar Technologies, a Nigerian startup founded in 2022 by Chinwe Udo-Davis and Paul Casey, is reshaping Africa’s renewable energy landscape by bridging the gap between solar companies and a growing green-collar workforce. Operating as a digital marketplace, Instollar uses location- and skill-based algorithms to connect vetted freelance solar installers and technicians with clean energy projects. By streamlining recruitment, the platform has enabled over 2,000 solar installations and created more than 1,000 green jobs across all 36 Nigerian states—while helping clients cut workforce costs by 20–40%.
What sets Instollar apart is its freelancing model, which provides reliable access to certified technicians even in underserved regions. The company actively invests in workforce development by offering technical training and certification programs, including partnerships with brands like Koolboks. Instollar’s commitment to inclusion is reflected in its InstallHER initiative, a pilot program aimed at increasing female participation in solar installation roles. With more than 1,200 specialists onboarded to date, Instollar is building a robust, decentralized green workforce that supports the continent’s energy transition.
The startup’s innovation and impact have earned major accolades. Instollar was named the 2024 Jobtech Idol Startup Challenge Winner at the Premier Africa Jobtech Summit and received funding and mentorship from the Catalyst Jobtech Accelerator, led by Mercy Corps and the Jobtech Alliance. In 2025, co-founder Chinwe Udo-Davis won the Female Tech Innovator Award at the Africa Tech Summit Awards. The company was also listed among the SET100 Startups, cementing its place among global clean energy pioneers. With plans to expand into Kenya, Uganda, and Francophone West Africa, Instollar is poised to become a key player in the continent’s sustainable energy future.
