BuuPass is a Kenyan mobility-tech platform transforming how people move across Africa by bringing structure and transparency to a largely informal transport sector. The company was co-founded by Wyclife Omondi and Sonia Kabra in 2016, with the goal of simplifying how travellers search, compare, and book tickets.

Through its platform, users can seamlessly purchase bus, train, and flight tickets, eliminating the need for long queues and manual booking systems that have historically defined intercity travel across the region.
BuuPass operates as a B2B2C marketplace, digitising transport operators while connecting them to millions of travelers through web, mobile, and USSD channels.
Its value lies in solving both sides of the market: helping operators manage inventory, reduce revenue leakages, and gain data insights, while giving travelers convenient access to routes, pricing, and bookings in real time.
The platform has scaled rapidly, processing thousands of daily transactions, selling over 25 million tickets, and generating more than $70 million in bookings, while integrating 150+ transport operators across multiple African markets.
Since launching, BuuPass has expanded beyond Kenya into markets including Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa, and strengthened its footprint through acquisitions such as QuickBus.
The company has raised nearly $3 million in funding to scale its infrastructure and deepen its reach across the continent. Founder Wyclife Omondi has also gained recognition as a Top 10 finalist in the Africa’s Business Heroes competition, highlighting the company’s role in building critical mobility infrastructure for Africa.
With its continued growth, BuuPass is positioning itself as the digital backbone of intercity travel—unlocking access to jobs, education, and trade through more efficient movement.
