Kalafhi Medical Center is a fast-growing, Botswana-owned healthcare group expanding access to quality, technology-enabled medical services. Founded in 2018 by physician and CEO Dr. Matlhogonolo Mongwa-Mouwane, it has evolved from a one-doctor clinic into an integrated private healthcare provider.

Guided by a vision to position Botswana as a regional medical-tourism hub, Kalafhi combines patient-centred care with investments in modern facilities and preventive medicine.

Kalafhi offers general practice, physiotherapy, pharmacy, laboratory, telemedicine, dental and aesthetic services, alongside a day hospital. Today, the group operates five clinics, a day hospital and multiple pharmacies, using an integrated model built around convenience, affordability and faster access to care.

Its longer-term ambition is to establish a smart hospital offering specialist services in areas such as cardiology, neurology, oncology and surgery—reducing the need for Batswana to seek advanced treatment abroad.

From a single employee, Kalafhi has built a growing healthcare organisation while continually reinvesting in new facilities, technology and services. Its expansion reflects Mongwa-Mouwane’s ambition to close gaps in Botswana’s healthcare system and develop a locally rooted platform capable of serving the wider region.

In 2023, she was named among the Top 50 finalists in the Africa’s Business Heroes competition, selected from more than 27,000 applicants across all 54 African countries.
