Tanél Health is a Senegalese digital health and insurance platform founded in 2020 by Mouhamed Ndoye (CEO) and Makhtar Diop (COO), on a mission to make healthcare coverage simpler, more affordable, and easier to manage.

The company has developed a fully digital system that enables users to access health insurance, manage beneficiaries, utilise digital health cards, and track reimbursements seamlessly.
Tanél Health operates at the intersection of insurers, employers, healthcare providers, and individuals—reducing friction in a system that has traditionally been paper-heavy and opaque.
Central to Tanél Health’s offering is Afiyah by Tanél, its flagship digital health insurance product. Afiyah provides flexible coverage options tailored to individuals, SMEs, and large employers, while enabling real-time access to benefits through Tanél’s platform.
Employers can manage staff coverage and HR-related health data digitally, while members benefit from transparent claims tracking and easier access to partner healthcare providers. By embedding insurance directly into a user-friendly digital experience, Tanél Health is addressing long-standing trust, access, and usability challenges in African health insurance.
Tanél Health’s approach has gained strong traction within Africa’s health-tech ecosystem. In 2024, the company was selected for the HealthTech Hub Africa Accelerator, recognizing its potential to scale digital health solutions across the continent.
Afiyah by Tanél has also enabled strategic partnerships, including a collaboration with Yango to extend health coverage to ride-hailing drivers—demonstrating how the platform can reach informal and gig-economy workers.
As it continues to expand its partnerships and product capabilities, Tanél Health is positioning itself as a key player in reshaping how healthcare coverage is delivered, managed, and experienced in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and beyond.
