The Africa Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA) is moving closer to becoming one of the continent’s most consequential new financial institutions. Backed by the African Union, AfCRA is scheduled to launch in Mauritius on October 5, 2026, as African governments seek to address high borrowing costs and strengthen their position in the global financial system. Structured as a private-sector-driven, self-sustaining institution, it will provide Africa-focused ratings for sovereigns and o
